Our son starts big school (prep) in 2 weeks. The countdown is truly on and there’s been a lot of preparation to get us to this point. I have to say, this has been on my mind for a while now. Finding healthy and easy school lunch ideas that he will actually eat!
Here I will share some of the ideas I have on my list.
For those wondering, I will be using a bento style lunchbox and include fork and spoon for ease of eating. These are the Bento boxes we will be using. We also have a separate small container with snack tub cooler for “Sip and Crunch” time which the school has requested given it’s such a quick break.
So here goes:
Sip and Crunch
- Apple slices
- Carrot sticks with yoghurt or cottage cheese to dip
- Capsicum slices
- Cucumber sticks
- Corn on the cob
- Mandarin
- Strawberries
- Kiwi fruit cut up
- Grapes (cut in half)
- Watermelon slices
- Fruit salad
- Mango slices
- A mix of berries
- Peach slices
- Nectarine slices
- Passionfruit
Morning Tea
- Cheese and crackers (Fetta/bocconcini/brie/cheddar cheese)
- Mini brown rice crackers
- Yoghurt with passionfruit mixed through
- Homemade popcorn
- Homemade jelly (refer to the following recipe I use to make healthy Gut Healing Jellies)
- Healthy 3 ingredient Pancakes

Lunch
- Spinach and Ricotta Triangles – see the link to my recipe here
- Pizza scrolls – ham or bbq chicken – recipe idea here
- Brown rice and chicken curry
