Our move to the Gold Coast…

Did we make the right decision?

Hey guys! Well, if you missed it, I recently announced our big news! It’s been 3 weeks since we made our move to the Gold Coast and I have to say….we’re pretty happy with our decision. Of course we miss our family and friends, that goes without saying, but waking up and breathing in the fresh air and having acreage that we’ve never had before, makes us know we’ve made the right decision. We honestly wake up with a smile on our faces each morning….even Simba, our dog!!

It wasn’t an easy road…

I won’t say it was easy. It certainly had it’s challenges, but we got here in the end and it’s time to start living our best life. From the challenges of packing up our house without packaging material during self-isolation to our removalists cancelling on us ON moving day and having to rush around and find a last minute mover! We hadn’t seen our house we were moving into, but that was just all part of the adventure!

The car was loaded, packed to the hilt. Ethan was set with his books and activities for the trip. Simba, our German Shepherd comfortable on her bed in the boot, and us….excited for the journey ahead with plenty of snacks for the long 10 hour drive North. We stopped half way in a little pet-friendly Air bnb. I’ve never been so excited to wake up at five AM the next morning with the anticipation of starting our new life that day! The drive didn’t even seem that bad.

When we arrived at our new house, we were pleasantly surprised. The house set back on the block allows plenty of privacy. We couldn’t believe the amount of space there was. From storage space to the massive backyard. Ethan was delighted! He couldn’t wait to get out and kick a soccer ball! The removalists arrived with our furniture as planned (thank goodness)! I did have images of having no furniture in this big house!

We just want to get out an explore!

Over the next few weeks we managed to get all the boxes unpacked, cupboards organised and work spaces set up. Now that we will both be working from home it was important that we both had dedicated office spaces we were happy with.

Given the COVID-19 situation, we are obviously all self-isolating at home. This has made it a little hard to settle in, given we just want to get out and explore our surroundings! We do go for a 5pm walk every day and have found an amazing park and bike track just 5 minutes away.

We can’t wait to head down to Burleigh Heads to go to the beach and trek the Tallebudgera walk again! What an experience this was!

So in the meantime…

Hugs for Simba!

So in the meantime….we are enjoying making our new house a home. Making the most of exercising to explore our local area. Busy working from home and juggling entertaining Ethan too while he is out of childcare. Hot tip: I just discovered Reading Eggs which has been such a lifesaver for us. Ethan is loving learning Maths and English and the best bit is due to COVID-19, they are offering a free 30 day trial. Definitely check it out if you have kids who are bored at home! The reason we’re finding this program so amazing is because it is self-paced. Ethan can follow along by listening to the instructions.

I look forward to sharing more of our adventures with you all now, after our move to the Gold Coast. Feel free to ask any questions you have, especially if you are planning on making a seachange yourself. Stay safe guys x
